Did you know that the FIRST elected female senator was from Arkansas?! Ophelia Wyatt Caraway…. What type of leader was she? What legacy did she leave? All good questions.
This school year’s National History Day theme is Leadership and Legacy in History. This theme opens up a wide range of research opportunities for students. From local leaders that have left great legacies such as Sam Walton, Don Tyson, and J.B. Hunt (just to name a few) to leaders on a national level like George Washington, Martin Luther King, and Susan B. Anthony. Students pick a topic that you will ENJOY researching…something that is interesting to YOU! Check out the 2015 Theme Narrative from National History Day’s Adrienne Harkness and Lynne O’Hara. It will give you some great ideas for thinking outside the box for topic ideas.
